Recording of a door being opened and closed, and then opened and closed again. Very slight footsteps (on carpet) can be heard. The microphone (sennheiser mkh-50) was intentionally placed about 5 feet away from the door and aimed slightly off-axis so as to capture more of the natural room sound/reverb. I have another recording available of the exact same door and mic setup, but aimed on-axis for a more direct recording (it still has a slight bit of room sound - that was what i wanted for these two recordings). Recorded into a tascam 208i audio interface and into adobe audition. Very minor processing (low-cut at 80hz to remove low-freq rumble).

This is record from line-out of soundcard connected to microphone in, when command "sudo cat /dev/sda1 > /dev/dsp" is running in my linux command line shell. Sounds really close to modem 56k. Unfortunately i've written it into 128 kbit mp3, so this is result of back conversion into wave.

A plastic desk clock ticking away. I placed the microphone realllyyyyy ridiculously close to the clock to try and minimize room-sound, so hopefully this will help someone somewhere! :). Also rendered the sample so it has the ability to loop easily (i think. . . To my ears and a 60bpm grid anyway). Enjoy!.

Sound created by me on audacity. It was recorded using my blue yeti microphone. All i did was take my wireless mouse and put it as close to my mic as possible. You don't have to do this, but i would like for you to tell me what its being used for if it is not too much trouble.

A clean raw stereo recording of a about a thousand people chatting with each other. Almost no distinct dialogue, but a discerning ear would hear american english and iberian spanish. Recorded in stereo on an h4n. The microphone was positioned on the side of the crowd, but pretty close. Recorded in a big space with huge ceilings--would be suitable for a theatre, auditorium, rally, sports game, etc. , but an experienced editor might be able to make this into an outdoor scene as well. There might be minimal handling noise.

Field recording of an electric train passing by. Recorded fairly close, wide dynamic range. I had to reduce the input gain during the middle section of the recording to avoid overloading the adc. I think this a fairly good example of the spatial image binaural recording can provide. Gear: sharp minidisc, soundman okm binaural microphones.

This file was recorded on november 19 2013 at london's euston railway station quite close to the arrivals board. It was achieved using an olympus ls-100 digital recorder with cad m179 microphones attached to a jecklin disk (see wikipedia) to obtain the best sound possible. As opposed to quasi-binaural recordings where the user attaches small diaphragm microphones to his/her shirt collar (my usual recording method), the jecklin disk can be mounted on a semi-fixed object such as a floor-standing microphone stand which it was in this case, and left for a few moments for the best possible outcome. Using a jecklin disk means that there are no minute movements from a person trying to stand as still as possible, and for some unknown reason, this setup is able to differentiate in front and behind sound image although i personally do not know why this is the case.

A recording of my bathroom ventilation fan shutters clicking in the breeze. The fan is not on so you can hear birds in the distance, and the wind in the tube-shaped fan chamber. When the wind blows it catches the plastic shutters and they rattle and click. Recorded very close to the fan with two dynamic microphones, there is virtually no bathroom ambience detectable. I'd be intrerested to know what this could be used for!.

This sound is a katana sword being swung close to the microphone it was recorded in a gym. It was recorded using a zoom h1 with foam windscreen attached. The clip was cleaned up (removed air condition sound) in adobe audition cs6. You can hear some handling of the sword at some points. Some swings have a higher pitch than others but this is the real thing.

Stereo recording of a train arriving and departing at aldgate east tube station, and another train departing on the other track. London underground trains have rubber wheels and a characteristic kind of rumble. The doors open and close automatically. Faint tannoy announcement in the background, and a couple of electronic warning tones when the doors open and close. Aldgate east station is huge but has a surprisingly 'dry' and 'dead' acoustic so that it is very quiet when the trains have gone. Recorded on a zoom h2 recorder, front microphones, 90 degree separation. No amplification or equilisation on this sample.

Turn down your volume on this sample!. Possible applications of this sound could be used for atmosphere building, such as a player going over a trigger in a map design for industrial-themed levels where there is a lot of hot water pipes. Edited using distortion, hard-limited compression and the sound of liquid boiling on a very high heat with an xy microphone as close as i could get it.

Recording of some new year's celebrations in vienna. Captured using a clippy stereo em172 microphone and a zoom h5 handheld recorder. I positioned the microphone capsules outside the window on the left and right and then gently (almost) closed it. I setup the recorder and rolled the whole evening. This bit was around the apex of the celebrations in that part of town. Sadly some clipping occured, but i chose to upload the unaltered file. So no post-processing has been applied. Cut in ocenaudio. Enjoy!. Want to support the creation of more cc0 sounds?https://flattr. Com/profile/cabled_mess.

This sound field recording was made back in 2000 on a very late/early morning. I placed the sony microphone ontop of the car outside to record the crickets and cicadas. There were a lot of mosquitos out that hot night. One of them landed on the mic and actually bit the microphone. You have to listen close but the bug bites at about 14:28 and removes the mosquito blood sucker at about 34:28. If you want to hear it clearly i made an episode about the "hungry bug" on my show the "sound effects podcast" http://soundeffectspodcast. Potable hoover (vacuum as known in the states) powered-on. Portable vacuum cleaner turned on. Short sample which can be looped. Two samples are included, the first is about 30cm away from the microphone and the second is a close-up to the microphone. I would advice using the end of the audio file to apply noise removal however have left this upload of the sound unedited so you can tweak this yourself to find what fits your project best. Noise removal may not be necessary at all depending on how you incorporate the sound. Also to be fair, how do you add noise removal to what is essentially glorified white noise?.

A recording made in mid june of 2017 near the ohio river from the bank of rosiclare illinois. The main sound is an angry killdeer that was constantly fussing at me for being too close to her nest. You'll also hear a johnboat plowing through the river, the wind through the leaves of a huge sycamore tree and various children, low in the distance, playing on a playground on this perfect 80 degree summer day. Sound effect of opening a can of fizzy beverage and then drinking from it. Includes initial opening, a few seconds of idle fizzing, and drinking up-close to the microphone. Feels free to use the sound effect for anything you like, commercial, non-commercial or otherwise? if that's possible? credit not needed but that would be lovely, wouldn't it?. If you do decide to credit, feel free to format it however you feel. Best of luck on your project!.
